Yes, buying locally is a viable technique for most PM buyers. If you can find a local shop that has good prices and gives good service, cultivating them is an excellent idea. Doing this will also help when it comes time to sell some silver. If you have a good local shop and they know that certain items interest their favored customers, they will often call you to let you know that something has come in that might interest you. That is a lot more convenient than dropping in from time to time just to see what they may have at the moment.

Wow, $24 for silver dollars, that's pretty good. I think the other day my dad bought 100 at 29.50 (I thought he did good by basing the price on what APMEX was selling for.)

I have a shop but they don't call due to being so busy. Anytime you go there are customers in the shop and one of the 2 owners are giving directions to get there! Of course could just be coincidence but always busy and fair prices

Well, if they are always busy then they certainly have little reason to hustle for more business. Most shops aren't all that busy in my experience so are more open to cultivating customers more aggressively. Maybe a busy coin shop is a little like a busy restaurant... a sign that good things are going on in there!

Sorry for the confusing post. I meant $24 per dollar of face for 90% dimes, quarters, and halves.

What was Spot at the time for the $24 price? Just wondering since that price is just under using a spot of $34/oz and a really good price. I pay spot plus 3percent and .715 factor
