Hey, as long as I'm on a posting roll, I'll share my one official error coin. This nickel is graded MS-64 by ANACS (what? no Full Steps!?) and I picked it up because I wanted a major, in-your-face kind of error that I don't need magnification to detect. This one I really like.

Love the error !!! but the Hair on the newer jeffersons makes me crazy !!

I long for the old days of high relief details !!

Excellent error. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that set you back?

My cost was $117 and I purchased it on the R. Howard Rare Coin Gallery website about 3 years ago. I thought that was a relative bargain.
I agree with Metalman about the older high relief Jeffersons, but at least the current nickels are a uniform alloy throughout. When you see a major error like this double-strike or a big off-center you won't have any zinc or copper core peeking through.

I like it, but it sure looks FS to me. I wonder if an FS designation would increase its' value.

Ok guys, new to this. How is this sort of coin found in the first place. It won't go in a role and I have asked the bank if they can get bags of coins in and they said no.

The full step designation on most nickels since the single press hubbing process went into operation really have little affect on the value ,, even though Rebook still gives them a premium, most collectors do not add much for them.

Today most of these are smuggled out of the mint by one their very honest and dependable work force members or one of the contractors who work in the distribution centers (Brinks ,ADT and others who actually roll the coins for distribution to the banks) ,with the new error detection systems and the coins being rolled by contractors these kind of errors have all but disappeared !! in days gone by they could be found legitimately in bags of coins.

Real nice doubled strike coin. I like the double dates. The full steps will certainly not hurt the value! So, ask yourself. If given two very similiar doubled strikes like yours, one FS and the other not, which would you buy first, the full step or the non full step?.. ME... the FS. P.S. I notice that the D mintmark is missing on the first strike. So, is it worth more?... with it or without? Now thats fun! ..Gusp

The full steps or not doesn't really matter on an Awesome coin like that. It's the double date that makes the price tag go up.

I'll give you $117 for that today.....

Nice coin. I have a few like it...just awesome coins that no one else can own.
