Congratulations Squire Wilson! andymcblane, the 1985 50c is pretty hard to find, but you will find one if you keep looking.

Thanks a lot ozcoins I had just about given up on finding the elusive "big gorilla" of Australian Decimal Error Coins. I have been looking for this coin within the "financial jungle" for years. My sister surprised me recently by presenting me with this coin . She has had BIG time "beginners luck" in her noodling. Squire PS. I will have to give her a very special coin as a "Christmas present" to return the compliment. I already have an idea about that...

...you are right Nevol. A very special surprise from a lovely sister.. I remember your earlier posting on the Coin Community Forum ("Rim Cud Pictures" post topic) that you had also acquired a "mule" as a present from a member of your family ... There is nothing like "family" is there?... Squire

Quote: you had also acquired a "mule" as a present from a member of your family That's correct. My son bought it for me some years ago. I also traded a wavy for a mule and those 2 are the only mules I have. Never managed to find one while I was noodling.

i would send you a rose if I could nancy.. I had sorted my 400 10 cent pieces into dates ( they matched up with other noodling stats .. but I thought the 10 cents seemed the most boring .. for want of a better word .. but I went to your links and started on 2001 out of 20 I have 7 that have errors onto 2003 chasing the die crack .. havnt got one yet but have a nice error in the form of doubled feathers .. .. thanks again will start getting pics when my microscope arrives in next few days

thanks again since looking at 10 cent pieces (last night) ive noticed that if the knee of the birds leg has a doubled edge line (is easy to see if it is) then when you look closely at the feathers they are quite often doubled or other parts of the bird has an error also if the queens face edge is doubled then quite often some of the lettering is also doubled . for those of you that are used to noodling 10 cents you probably already know this .. but for the others ..they might increase their finds Owen

Quote: the knee of the birds leg has a doubled edge line (is easy to see if it is) then when you look closely at the feathers they are quite often doubled or other parts of the bird has an error I think what you're describing is caused by a worn die. From memory 2008 was a bad year for this. I stopped keeping the coins because although they're interesting to look at, there are just so many of them. Some of my images of 10c 2008 Worn Die: 10c 2008 Rev Worn Die Duo; 10c 2008 Rev Worn Die Multi Found on quite a few other years as well.

...recently found another "not for circulation" one dollar coin. I was at a local NAB coin dispensing maching. Retrieved 3 rolls of 1 dollar coins and three rolls of 20 cent coins. Put in enough money to pay for the rolls and obtain 3 dollars in the change. Within the change I found the below coin - nice I now have a full page of commemorative, not for circularion, 1 dollar Australian coins. Will do a "show and tell" soon... Squire
