I am aware of the upside down version as in the current Aureo & Calico 4/2014 auction ... I believe I have procured an example ... see if you can find the pedigree ... not listed in KM ...

I like to read the history of my country through coins being collected outside Spain for not spaniards. Really interesting. Thank you all.

I did the SEM/EDS analysis and its good period silver (~90%) with ~5% Copper. Also the lettering and die break/die fill areas match the regals. Nice collection Matt - mine is comparable - I have all the types but the invert - as you may guess I like CRUDE. I will post a picture tonight. I have tracked another invert - same firm A&C - I believe 3/2012 - from memory. Could be the same piece on a return visit? The person who sold it to me thought it was a Falsa and it might be ... it was cleaned and with the VI it looked like a fake until the SEM/EDS revealed period silver ... did my usual ... stuck it in a 400*F oven for (3) hours now its not bright white but light golden tan ... bring the Cu to the surface to overide this recent cleaning in a dip solution (no surface hairlines).

While looking for that Ferd VI auction listing, I came across this unusual 1809 Tarragona piece, Lot 273), offered in 1996 - Bill

ANother invert - makes you wonder is FER VII inverted or the denomination/year - as in the other piece?
Keep looking for that VI piece. About 6-7 hours from now will post my piece.

Here is a freshly shared Ferdinand VI (missing a I) 30 sous from Majorca - from the place where I'm admin at. That one is particularly clear, but as all those strange variants (particularly on this type which can be easily modified) ... I would check it closely. What's your opinion ? http://www.numismaticageneral.com/t...individuales

Having purchased a couple of FALSA 1821 30 Sous the dies (ON SOME) are IDENTICAL to the regal issue in my collection. Pay attention to the die break in the bottom of the second quadrant (top right) and the overall tree shapes (top right and bottom left). On some FALSAS the tree shape in the lower left quadrant is like a starbust and on others is IDENTICAL to the regal issue with the two hanging fruit - same shaped trees and die breaks - low periods of silver inventory creating silvered brass or bronze? Just wondering ... are all FALSAS ... FALSAS? Maybe not ...
