Years ago I started filling the Whitman Lincoln Head volume two. I quit for a number of years - got married, two kids, etc. A year ago I got back to it and it has bugged me for months regarding one of the holes I had in it. I saw no reason why I couldn't find the 1965 D. Last week I pulled out my Red Book to see how many were minted. ZERO. I even got a $50 bag of pennies from the bank just for the purpose of getting that coin. Wish I had found one.

Haha..
It must be one of the really old Whitman folders made before 1965.
They printed dates in advance and assumed there would be a 1965D just like there had been (Denver mintmarked coins) for the prior 54 years.

Wish I still had the Whitman Franklin with the coins. I had it almost completely filled. This was probably about 1962. I got rid of all of the coins to buy and a Timex watch. I got the penny one about the same time. What does a 10 year old know anyway.

Interesting story! It is not the first time a pre-dated album or folder got the better of someone, nor will it be the last, I am sure. More recently, those who had Lincoln albums with only one set of P/D holes.

Funny story.

I had the same problem with the Washington quarter #4 folder that I bought long before the State Quarters were even thought of. I just left those holes for the 1999 and 2000 blank. I could overwrite the dates and put something else in there though, but never bothered with it.
