I still think the surfaces are not original, and that it's AU-58 at best.

Looks like just a very weak strike to me. Which is common for peaces

Weak strike, but then again they were all weak strikes in that series. I think (but am not sure by any means) that the surfaces might have been messed with.

Thanks to all for your votes of confidence in this coin. However, there have been nearly as many negatives as positives from forum members. If the coin is not a 'home run' or at least a 'triple,' it is not a coin I want to put in my 7070 Type Set.
So, I guess I will relegate this coin to our store and begin the search for another, more worthy example.

You can get a very nice slabbed BU example that you could crack out for around 40.00 in this date. I personally recently bought a PCGS MS64 for 45.00 and a PCGS MS-63 for 39.00

It's almost impossible to find a worthy Peace dollar in my opinion. Most silver dollars struck in the US after 1904 are....well mediocre at best. Just not a fan of the low relief.

I think the matlike appearance is a dead giveaway of over dipping. It could be from the lighting but I am in the same boat "not original surfaces" people. If you can see cartwheel in the fields then it could be a picture artifact but if it has a matlike appearance like you said, I am thinking it spent a little to long in the E-Zest and thats what caused the dull matlike appearance

Well, after much deliberation, I have decided that I can not even list this coin in the store and sell it with a clear conscience, so it has been returned to the dealer. There are just to many questions about this coin...

You did the right thing in my view. You had it listed as MS64+ with original surfaces for $57.55 I for one would be upset if that came in the mail after I paid more than the price of a PCGS slabbed 64+
However, some of the forum members agreed with the sales description so you just never know.

I think it is very well struck up considering these. A tad of luster still left here and there. 65 details but was most likely wiped or dipped at one time or another.

I reviewed all six pix. I still don't see a problem that would justify returning it unless it was bought at some super-premium price. Any weird surface should have stood out when compared to 14 others.
