A couple of upgrades. Thoughts on a grade for the new arrivals?

Thanks for looking and your opinions!

1848 o xf 40

1863 s AU 53-55

My 1863 s is more worn than your original one. I found it roll searching in the 80's

Looks like VF35 on the '48, and an AU53 on the '63
Rest in Peace

I'm leaning towards XF40 and AU55. Great upgrades!

I will go with EF-40 and AU-53. The 1863-S appears just a tad bright to me but they are still great coins.

but the detail remains and some of the luster so I'm ok with that!

Funny story: I bought this from Fairtraderz on ebay back in January. They called and said the coin had been sold so I had them exchange it for an 1869 Seated Half I also wanted to upgrade. Then 2 weeks ago, I noticed the 1863 S back on ebay. I bid and won it. I really expected Fairtraderz to call me again and say "the coin had been sold and what can we do about it" again.

BUT...here it is!

1848 O XF 40 and the 1863 S AU 53 and perhaps as high as a AU 55.

Very nice coins . If you don't mind me asking how long have you been collecting? Your CBH & SLH collections are very impressive.

That's a good question. I remember sitting down with my brother and my Dad growing up and sorting through tons of wheat cents and we ended up getting all but the 1909 S VDB from change for our Lincoln Cent collection.

So I've loved coins from a LONG time ago.

I started more on my own probably close to 15 years ago. The date is kind of tough to pin down. All I know, is it started slowly and then became "all-consuming"!

But totally in a GOOD way!
