I agree with Grease Filled Die and a very nice one at that. I would put it in a 2x2 for sure, congrats.

Just chiming in. One that I have. Under Mag. 1994 can be made out.
Left side is also affected.

Wert, the areas you are pointing at are much too high to be where the date would be. the date on a cent is about midway between the point of the bust and the bowtie, or just about where you have the word "number" on your image

Sorry Conder101...Not too familiar with American coins...Just throwing in my 2 cents...Won't do that again...

P.S. - But it does look like a date, doesn't it...

Very amazing Greaser to not have the date visible. Try looking below what you have under magnification. The top of the date is usually just below where the bow tie is, if you look horizontally to the right. Like this photo:

Ok so we finally found it. We took a closer look at it and there seems to be filled letters all over. See bleow and let me know your thoughts. I cannot capture it in the microscope but inthe sunlight at an angle I cna make out the 1 and the 9 and I belive a 9. Can any one narrow down the date better from the rest of the coin. I'm also including a 1959-D that looks like a Cud to me.

Is it me or does the top part of his hair/head seem flat? (Flathead Abe?).

How come I never find things like this - I am so jealous right now!

The cameo seems very week for an old coin. it does appear that his head is flat. Thats one reason I tossed it back into the buscket, I though it had been sanded/rubbed/filled down.

The head is also weak from being struck with an obstructed die. The 1959D has a large delamination peel.
