I found this Dateless "D" Standing Liberty quarter amongst a small pile of 90%
after I got home from the coin shop
I was wondering if it is a 1917 Type 1. From what I remember
The hair like what is on this coin is one of the die markers.

Thanks

Terry

For sure a 1917 T-I. There are no stars below the eagle.

Thank You Gentlemen
And Thank You for some other die markers for the 17 T1
Now the trick is getting them to stick in my head

one characteristic of the type 1 is the lack of stars under the eagle, and of course the drapery folds near the foot.

Only the lack of stars identifies type I.

You really need to learn the characteristics of a 1916.

also the outlines of the bulkheads are SHARP. as you can see on both sides of her, those two scquare looking things. on a 1916 these will not be there. ALso the rivets on the shield. a 1916 will be almost worn down and smooth. you will not be able to distinguish them

Even a 1916 in MS has flat rivets compared to a circulated 1917
