secoinedchance Valued Member Canada 449 Posts	Posted 03/25/2012 2:34 pm Not sure if this is the right place, but I just picked up an 1863 Lindenmueller Civil War Token, minted by the man who pretty much forced US government into passing a law outlawing private persons from making their own currency. Couldn't wait to find out about this token, and it's very cool. Thought I'd share that here.... It definately isn't going to win any awards for being mint-like for sure, but I think it's a cool find. This token is reminiscent of the German beer gardens, what with the beer mug pictorial. That's a great beard that Lindenmueller had, and this token has assured him some degree of immortality. Also, note that the diesinker, Louis Roloff, was also German. There was a strong German presence in NY City, even back then. There's a lot of history that's rolled into this quarter-sized token.
