I can help you on the VDB ,lol

on the 1909 cent you will have to look on the reverse , on the bottom along the rim , between the two wheat ends you will see the engravers initials .. V.D.B ..

i would google it so you can see exactly what it looks like as its pretty small..

there is alot of wheats worth holding onto and looking for .. Hopefully one of the seasoned collectors could get you a website with a list , sorry I dont have one handy to share ..

But good luck with your hunt .. Take your time and research alil before starting so you dont have to re-search them all ... I suggest buying the Lil Red Book for coin prices .. * A guide book of United States Coin 2012* that would be a good help ..

As already noted you should attempt to find a Red Book by Whitman Publishing. The latest version is coming out in April.

40's and 50's have a few years that are interesting , did you happen to look into picking up the book ?

If you need a Priceing guide I sometimes use this www.numismedia.com Just click on the "collectors price guide" on your left hand side of the screen... Once there just find the Cent tab that you need and search away .. I really recommend that Lil Red Book (but as just carl mentioned the newest will be out in april) .. Also another site to help you with grading some coins you can try this one

Good luck with these and your other hunts/searches

I did look at the site. It seems that most of mine look to be worth about Three Cents. But I don't have the eye or knowledge yet to noticemany errors

Just takes some time ..

thats the big thing with shows , you could find a table set up with maybe a case full of Wheat error cents that you can look through .. Thats one of the best things with the shows , that and being able to talk with the dealer/collector and picken their brains is all priceless ...

Just keep at it , there is ALOT going on with Pennies and being here will help you out .. you find a Odd looking coin snap a photo and post it ..

But again good luck \m/ And keep at it ..

Another book worth picking up would be The Cherry Picker's Guide. It lists many coins commonly missed when looking through rolls or pocket change. A few more older Wheat Cents to look out for is 1931-S and 1909 all the way to 1914 S mintmark.
