I have come off the platteau for now and am on the lower side of the roller coaster for a time. Still finding silver just not near as much and having to go through alot more boxes to get what I do. For instance I got ME first Barber last night, only other silver in the box was one 40%er. Here's a pic, enjoy and HH Mark

Hunted some halves today, the 15 min. wait at the bank was worth it. The teller had one twenty dollar roll and I didn't have the audacity to ask her to check the vault or the other tellers because there were about twenty people in line behind me. Anyway, the wrapper looked old and it was! One 64' and the rest silver clad, not a bad day of hunting.

Nice Baldiphoto... Not like our wives waste time on anything right? I continue the excuse of "its an investment, and for our future kids"

Metalman expressed my strategy to a tee...banks in small, remote towns. I wish I could afford to fly to rural Nevada and spend a month touring.

eaglefoot- If you have $500 that doesn't have to be spent on something else immediately why not take a chance. After all it is still money just heavier than paper- you still have the $500. Once I got my head around that idea, I went for it hard, I even order extra boxes to come after payday sos I can search the money once before paying bills with it.
Thanks for the Kudos everyone- that was an awesome month that I would have missed out on if I had not been ordering boxes. You do have to keep it fun though, I did 16 boxes last week trying to boost year end totals and 4 yesterday. Searching the same $2000 over and over like that is a pain- I need a vacation, can you say roadtrip haha. Hope everyone had a safe Holiday and here's to a prosperous 2008. HH Mark

Umm....I search rolls of Lincolns, have for about 30 years now. I have scarcely found anything in Lincoln rolls that would constitute a generalist key date, although I have found a number of scarce to rare die varieties. I guess the best finds I have ever made in rolls would be a 1909S in VG, an 1864L in G, an 1872, a Civil War token from 1863, and a coal scrip token that sold on ebay for $60.

I bought four wheat bags from a dealer at $150 each about five years ago, and found a roll of indians and two rolls of 09VDB cents in the bag...along with about 20 rolls of steel cents, and a few rolls of earlier mintmarked cents that were worth far over $150 a bag...like 1917D, 1925S, 1929D, etc. All were basic circ coins, but they were the coins that typically sell for over $10 a roll. The guy basically tossed every roll he saw as a wheat roll into bags, and when the bags weighed 35 pounds, he called them full. He had four full bags when the local show came up, and he was happy to off them at a profit over regular bag price...which was $125 at the time.

Other good roll finds, I guess, would include a group of customer wrapped rolls I purchased in three $25 boxes at the bank to find that they had been rolled in the mid-1980s. This was about two years ago. Thing is, 1984, 1984D, 1986, and 1986D rolls all sell for nice money, and I was sorting through BU coin after coin in these rolls. I assembled three BU rolls of 1986 - worth over $25 a roll at the time.

I did the half dollar thing for money when I was in high school back in the 80s. Silver was difficult to find, but silver clad half dollars were easy to find. In one $100 group, $60 were silver clad. I took them to the local dealer for 65c each. I remember the silver ones selling for $1.75 at the time.

I bought 20 rolls of pennies at my local bank and in one roll was a shiny Wheat penny, I looked on the front and saw it was a 1931-S valued at $100 quite a find for me who was just starting to collect.
