Just to summarise... BJW looked through 400 5c 8700 10c 1300 20c 4200 50c for a total of 14600 coins! That is an amazing feat. I looked through $600 of 50c and $100 of 20c (total 1700 coins) and that was a lot for me.

I got some funny looks/questions when I returned my coins to the bank (well 3 separate banks) yesterday. I took $1400 50c, $260 20c, $550 10c and $20 5c coins to one bank (they know me at least) . If I get time I'll put up some pictures of major finds I had.

Did you take a picture of the mass of coins you had on hand?

I didn't take a picture. I thought about it as they were weighing the coins in the second bank I went too (I'm a bit slow sometimes ). I still have all of the plastic bags the they had the coins in (the $100/$200 lots). I might put a photo up of them!

The 2002 is the funny one, it does not feel right in the hand. I need to learn more about coin manufacture, but it looks like the rim wasn't stamped. Will attempt photo 2mrw.

Could this be the start of NoodleFrenzy? The winner from one has to name the start and end date of the next NoodleFrenzy. ...and provide the prize! (value not important, winning, of course, against your peers is.) Honour system is in place. The start (announcement) date must be at least three days before a Saturday and the duration of the frenzy must be between two and four days. This is basically a weekend competition. Results to be posted prior to midnight on the day of the end of the frenzy. Time differences will be taken into account. To confirm validility of the starting stock, the previous winner could suggest a photo of the stock with a quotation / item. i.e. Photo of stock + the numbers 2345, or photo of stock with a 1966 20c wavey incuse on top ;-) The winner will be decided by voting. Open vote. Of course, this could mean that people could get noodle stock from the bank when they had spare cash and then a frenzy was announced that they had time to play in then they could enter... I am away to start stock piling Any ideas / suggestions welcome

Maybe think about a $ limit and you can pick your own denominations within that limit, or a set stockpile (eg everyone starts with the same set of coins) - just as a twist some of the time?

Yes. I like this idea. Not everybody (me included) can afford to splash out $100's / $1000's of cash even if it is only for a short period. $100 sounds feasible. We could have several variations : 1) $100, set denominations. 2) $100, any denominations. 3) Free for all.

Another idea. Midweek noodling eg starting with no coins at 10:00am (when the banks are all open) on Monday morning and finishing at 4pm Friday afternoon Those without a lot of spare cash can rotate money at the bank.
