So, I have what appears to be a 1942 Jefferson with no mint mark, made of some kind of metal which is the right colour but very soft. How would I go about identifying whether it is one of these counterfeits, or a US Mint error?

I saw the 1942 S nickel on ebay when it was first submitted. I see no characteristics of a henning nickel on it. I think it is just a damaged War Nickel.

Henning: I've heard of him and read about his story. The best part about it was the vending machine in New Jersey that spit out all the blank planchets when someone tried to buy a coke. I wonder if they thought they were in Las Vegas?
