Anyone seen these advertised on Provident's web site? They look pretty cool to me and I am considering buying a few.

Wow great find there Ed, had not seen these yet. I figure no doubt a safe investment. And J&M bars being high quality that they are, it should not take very long for that premium factor to move away from the spot price.....

That would be a great buy, Ed. From what I see out of JM bars on ebay, these go well above spot. It will be easy to make a profit if you ever decide to sell (which, I know from talking with you, isn't in the cards).

After I spotted these on the Provident web site, I looked around for other possible vendors to compare prices. I didn't find too many but the 2-3 others that I did find all wanted around $45 each for these. That's quite a jump above what Provident is asking.

I need another 73 oz. to finish off my silver hoard and am now kind of torn between 4 sheets of these and a $100 bag of VF Morgans. The Morgans would be about $350 more but they are pretty darned cool in spite of costing more for a little less ASW. Decisions, decisions!

I'd go with the JM bars, Ed. Consider it as a way of further diversifying your portfolio. As I mentioned before, I've seen people pay very high premiums for these, not that I understand the causal relationship all that well, since it's just an art bar to me, sans the art. They kinda remind me of the 1 oz. Northwest Territory Silver Bars. Back in the day, I used to gobble them up at around $17 an ounce and have close to a score in my stash. But the JM bars always sold for at least a few dollars more, or anywhere from $8-12 over spot. The Morgans I watched never came close to those heights.

, you already have plenty of VF Morgans if mem serves me right, and I to think the J @ M bars will appreciate faster an higher then the Morgans, minus you slabbing them an some come back with good numbers, an that aint cheap....

My head agrees with both of you guys but those Morgans still pluck at my heart strings.

At the moment, I am leaning towards the coward's way out by getting some of each.

I just bought 11 as part of a larger purchase from gold mart for like $34.10 each. Good price

How many are in a sheet? 20?

I would go Morgans. I can get all my morgans for spot and some reach AU- low MS. I would love to get a sheet of these. Do guys ever think that silver will just drop and go to $10 an oz? Thats the only thing I'm worried about, is silver just dropping and me losing money.

That's the reason to hoard up some silver dollars, silver drops and you still have some cool old coins. I like going for the 10 oz. bars vs. 1 oz., they are often a buck an oz. cheaper and store tighter.

A drop in price is only a loss if you sell. If the fundamentals haven't changed, it's just a huge buying opportunity!
