OK, I reached a final decision on these and decided to get some silver Maples instead. I ordered 4 tubes of the Maples from Provident last night, so should have them in 8-10 days. When they arrive, my silver collection will be complete and I can start shopping for some gold.

I really like Maple Leafs to but a old time dealer friend pretty much calls me stupid for buying them. He always say you are a lot better off with ASE's, why I don't know I zone when he talks to me to be honest. Great pick up ED you should check out Gold Mart prices are usually cheaper though it takes like 2 weeks for checks to clear.

And LOL about you being finished with buying silver, I wish I could put money on that.

GL on the gold, it is pretty but expensive. I am currently adding to my fortress of silver but never pass up a good deal on gold.

Ed - I really like the maple leafs too. I got a roll earlier in the year and they are pretty to look at and .9999 fine. Congrats on the pickup.

Thanks, guys... appreciate the support. I really like the Maples. They are really well made coins and contain a solid oz. of pure .9999 silver. Actually, I can thank MKFarm for getting me interested in these coins. I started with ASEs and have quite a few of them. They are terrific coins too and I like them a lot. The pics that can be found on-line do not do either of these real justice. They are a lot better looking in person than that.

Yep. I usually buy 100-200 ozs. of silver at a time. I was tempted to get 3 tubes of 25 coins because that would put my collection right at 1002 ozs. Then, I thought, why not get 100 of them and get a little better price on them all?

Thanks. A little luck in this will not hurt a bit. Yes, gold is expensive but it is also very space efficient. Not sure what I will get yet. I like the US and Canadian gold coins and some of the foreign ones as well plus the nicer looking bars. PAMP makes a 100 gram poured bar that is awesome. The Perth Mint bars are real nice too and well priced. I like the 20 gram size they offer. That's about 0.64 oz. They can be bought in a plastic box of 25 and each one comes with its own sealed case and built-in assay card.

They really are superb looking coins. I enjoy looking at them from time to time and am glad to have them as a store of value and some financial insurance against hard times. This is for my family, not just for me, so I'll pass it along to the kids and grand kids when the time comes.

Thanks, CW. Appreciate the support. I'm not counting these as part of my collection until they arrive. When they do, though, it will be sweet!

Well, dang! I didn't even make it for one whole day after that! We dropped in at the local coin / pawn shop today and he had 3 really nice early 1950s XF Franklins that he was willing to sell for 10% below spot. Now, could any of you resisted that? Somehow, I don't think so!

He also had a pile of cull 1/2 dollars that were 40% silver that he was willing to sell at 35% below spot. That was a tempting offer but I don't like culls and I also don't care for 40% silver coins. In fact, I have a couple that I want to sell or trade. They are the only 2 I have, all the rest of my collection being either 90% silver coins or 99.9% silver and up ASEs, bars, and Maples.
