I dont have too many women on coins but this is my largest and most detailed coin with a woman obverse. I like the colors green and brown on my coins so I did a soak on this to take off the grey coating.     FAUSTINA SENIOR Commemorative Æ As. Rev. Nice detail on a stoic portrait of a Roman lady.  Perhaps my favorite is Artemis on this coin from Greek Syracuse  Sicily, Syracuse. Agathokles. 317-289 BC. AE24 Litra. Period 4, circa 295 BC. SWTEIRA, head of Artemis right, in triple-pendant earring & necklace, quiver over shoulder. Reverse, Winged thunderbolt, AGAQOKLEOS above, BASILEOS below 9.58 gr |

DVCollector that is a VERY NICE coin you have there. Probably one of the best I have seen with that much details and the great colors.

I have a wide assortment of coins with women since I have been trying to put together a collection of all the better known women. It's hard to say which is my favorite, but I will narrow it down to four (but I have a lot more): FAUSTINA Sr  JULIA DOMNA  FAUSTA  HELENA  |

If I were pick my favorite, it would be the Julia Domna.

Yes, I like the Julia Domna, mainly because of the artist's ability to show her "attributes". But I think I like the Faustina Sr best. Even being broken, the detail on the bust is so very lifelike. The Fausta has great patina and the Helena shows a stern woman behind that throne. Truly hard for me to pick. Each has it's own good qualities.

I have two coins with women. Not near as good as some of these coins though.  Faustina I  Severina I realize it's been awhile since I've been around. I recently fell and seriously injured my spine. I'm in the process of trying to walk again right now. But I don't want to hijack the thread. More on that later. |

Wow...I always thought women were more prevalent on Greek coins, but it's looking like the Roman women are better represented. Gil-galad--sorry to hear about your injury! Take it easy and hope you recover soon.
