I think it will do well too but it's unlikely to be as popular as the early bird coins.

There was that other dinosaur series (the 50 cent lenticulars) did not do very well. It was also marketed to kids like the current coin and I think these are somewhat novelties.

The $4 coins were more serious collectibles IMO so I'm not sure they are comparable.

Still, I ordered a couple of the glowies so would not be upset to see resell for a huge premium.

The glow in the dark dino quarter was featured on "The Colbert Show" here in the U.S. tonight.

If you are not familiar with it, it is similar to the "Rick Mercer Report" in Canada.

Sort of a humorous look at how Canada must be trying to push the U.S. dollar aside as the leader in trade currency.

Also talked about Iceland considering adopting the Canadian Dollar as its currency.

But no, he didn't have an actual coin in hand either!!

Now this coin will get the "Colbert Bump" in popularity! haha

Thanks for the heads up. Colbert Report and it's on CTV in about 30 minutes here in Ontario - check local listings.

BTW - I just watched the glowie sell on ebay for 92.00 USD and the seller was a novice from Poland. Unreal return on this one so far.

Yeah, can't even read "report" without pronouncing it "re-pour"

The segment was really funny too so hopefully it will be on-line somewhere soon. Thanks again for the heads up.

Can't wait for the US mint to come out with that scratch and sniff dollar bill!

EDIT: here is the story in the Globe and Mail including a clip to the video. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/repo...tent=2412952

I had someone buy one from me last night for $99.99 plus shipping shows you some people have too much money or they don't know where to look for them as you can still get them for $69.95 other places

The Colbert bit was funny! The coin is a gimmick and overpriced though. Hype drives prices high... then reality sets in after 15 minutes and someone is left holding an overpriced item... just like a lot of collectibles (beanie babies, pogs, baseball cards, the list goes on forever...).

I see the RCM is crying about people posting Master club images... it was free hype for them... blow-back is a word they should look up. Wonder how long it will take for Coin Community Forum to have a policy saying nothing negative can be said of RCM's CONSUMER PRODUCTS... lol. Can't wait for the economy to pick up again and watch everyones "investments" in RCM products disappear. BLOW-BACK!

This coin is gimmicky but it doesn't affect the fact that every kid in the world will want one, every mom/dad/grandparent that will get one for the children will get one themselves, and the fact the media attention is incredibly high.

Once the subsequent coins come out, especially if the new glow in the dark coin is something like a trex or something, I believe the value will climb even more.

Not till may 25 thats the shipping date from the mint to my understanding if they get them early they have to wait for that date before they can put them out on the shelf it works that way at my local post office anyways

I don't expect them to ship until the end of May, nobody will have them until then, due to delays at the Mint.

The Mint should commemorate delayed coins.

The Mint should release an RFID-enabled coin, with on-line tracking system.

Just a thought.

If someone has been on a tour of the mint, or if they have been around coins longer than me, maybe they will be able to answer this. I remember reading that the mint doesn't make all their coins at once (which obviously makes sense), but how many coins are in each "batch" and how long does each take to make from start to finish? I don't know how available that information is, but if it's takes a while the delay is more understandable since I'm sure they weren't expecting a sellout so soon.
