@zzt: The RCM don't even mint some of their coins themselves, let alone mint all of the mintage at once (the toronto map coins were contracted out to PAMP SUISSE I think) @falcon: Lucky man! Those with too much change in their pockets would likely pay a hefty premium on top of the already high prices for a small serial number like that. @Toronto1: Ugly dinosaur doesn't lend well to good designs I suppose. All the dinos that will be featured will be Canadian dinos dug up in Canada, which means they are relatively recent discoveries. So, they will likely not be immediately recognizable and will feature unpronounceable names. No T-Rexes I'm afraid.

I kind of think their choice of dinosaur is very strange. One 4 legged beast, 2 fish and 1 pterodactyl. According to the catalog they mailed out, these are next in the series. (NOTE: not the actual image): Tylosaurus Quetzalcoatlus Tiktaalik I think the pterodactyl (Quetzalcoatlus) coin will be the most popular and would not be surprised if the up the mintage on that one to 50,000.

^That Quetza is going to be the gem of the set. I wish they did the Quetza for the fossil set. Seriously, why can't they ever do a Mammoth? Their focus is too narrow. The set would be much more popular if they choose the most famous extinct beasts, then they could add in the legless swimming fishy things thereafter.

Really like their choices for the rest of the series. They're unique and interesting, and I like weird fish so I'm down. Hopefully they don't increase mintage on subsequent releases.

I'm afraid there will be a limit of 3 or 5 per household on the subsequent coins. When will they be released?

Hmm...when I initially made my dino coin order, they put a pending charge on my CC. It fell off, but now its back on again. Does that mean I'm being charged and they're shipping it? =)

^^ Most likely, I had one order come through but both 25 cents were on backorder (bird/dinosaur). When they ship out your CC will then be charged.

So what's going to happen to the value of these coins when it's announced the remaining 15,000 are being released in the canadapost dino coin and stamp set?

Those 3 dinos look like they evolved into a Muskie, canada goose, and a mudpuppy....could be another series...

My card was "billed" the 3rd time for the dino on Saturday. Once I talked to a rep on the phone, she said this doesn't necessarily mean it's ready to ship. Sometimes they do that to make sure the money is still there. :(
And my 24/20 subscription was also billed the 3rd time yesterday.
