amida isn't every key date technically manufactured by a unique design or low mintage?

Yes, but typically as an afterthought....not a preconceived marketing ploy...imo....and...dont get me wrong...I'll speculate on this piece of bullion.

I guess the one exception would be the error 08 07 reverse. Ill be right there speculating with you on this one, I will save some for myself though with my love of the reverse proof ASE. Do you happen to know if this will be the first ASE with the actual S mint mark on it?

Quote:...the first ASE with the actual S mint mark on it? All 1986-1992 Proof ASE's were made in San Francisco and have the "S" mint mark. The 2012-S Proof ASE will most likely be exclusive to the 75th Anniv. of S.F. Mint Set. The first non-proof ASE to have the "S" mintmark is the 2011-S Uncirculated coin, exclusive to the 25th Anniversary Set. The 2012-S Uncirculated will be available as an individual coin (and should also have been included in the 75th Set, if you ask me!) The Reverse Proof "S" in the 2012 Set will be the first of its kind.

DNA thank you.
Wasnt aware so many had them, I guess I show my age with the fact I know little to nothing about the early ASEs and unfortunately I missed out on the 25th set. I knew there was an S in it but wasnt sure if it had the S on it or not.

I have absolutely no desire to own any of these coins but if the mintage is low enough I'll buy some to flip. I missed out on last years because I completely forgot the sale date.

Yes, that would have made a great set...which makes me question if there will actually be an S burnished this year. Has it been confirmed or is it just speculation?

The rumor still is TWO burnished coins this year instead of one. Had the S-burnished ASE made it into the 75th set, it would of mirrored the contents of 2006 20th Anniversary set perfectly. How times change, that set sold for $99.95 and it sold out in a day and a half, if I recall correctly.

Quote: The reverse proof should be used sparingly and in mintages of 100,000 or less. Otherwise it just becomes bullion and that would be a shame. Agree 100% and if the mint doesn't manufacturer key dates where will be in 60 years? nothing will be sought after unless its 150 years old. If you're playing your cards this way IMO you are basically cheating with an Ace up your sleeve and strictly looking to profit at other collectors expense.

Yep, Mint On Demand "For only four weeks, from June 7, 2012, to July 5, 2012" Here's the link: http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ntifier=1050So, the only remaining unanswered question is PRICE. We will see 500K mintage and the value would plummeted soon after....

hmm mint on demand good idea for this set after the 25th anniversary fiasco ( and will avoid all those flippers ) bascially a set for everyone who wants it no real profit to be made (in the short run anyway) finally allowing the true collector to purchase a set!

Bah, unlimited mintage means no free money from the mint, unless there are order limits then the possibility for fast cash still remains

Mint to demand. Could be a good or bad thing, good if hardly anyone knows about them, bad if everyone jumps on the bandwagon. The 2012W proof ASE is mint to demand also. We'll see if this is worth getting as it MAY end up like buying a pricy bullion coin.
