Looks like it'll very soon be back in the $30's, already very close.

Quote: Are you laughing at me? I like to buy in small increments and dollar cost average. It is really just the joy of the new buy. Wouldn't think of it. It's more like I am laughing WITH you and not AT you. Buying in small increments is fine. That's a great way to dollar cost average into a solid position. Not only that but a lot of coin shops regularly buy small amounts of silver and gold over time, so if you can fit your buying pattern to theirs, they should have something worthwhile most of the time that you go in. Quote: Interestingly many of the articles I have read on the price run up are deriding the concept of QE3 as being a positive for the US. In fact one author stated it was like putting a gun to the head of the USD, and pulling the trigger. I would find myself in agreement with those articles, JMK. QE is one of those emergency moves that can help a sick economy but only if it is used lightly. In fact, talking about QE may be more effective than actually doing it. It is a scalpel and not a chainsaw. IMHO, QE is mostly a political move rather than an economic one. When a lot of extra money is dumped into the markets, the market absorbs that cash via higher share prices, not by higher share values. A lot of people today seem unable to differentiate between truly increasing net worth and inflated net worth. I'm very much opposed to creating inflation as a "feel good" move on the part of the Fed. In the past, the Fed was far less political than it seems today. It almost always fails when a economic policy is implemented for political reasons. Any QE at this late date is purely aimed at the fall election... something that the current political leaders can point to and say "See, the economy isn't so bad after all". Those who mistake the stock market for the economy may be fooled by this but the rest of us are not.

Silver almost made it back over $30 today. Perhaps tomorrow (sigh). I am going to miss this thread. It's what made me find this site when I was searching for silver price info a couple months ago. I am also going to miss the sub$30 silver price as well.

Yes me too. I guess it never got lower than the 26 range and only a few days of that. Mostly mid $27 to mid $28 range for the past few months. Now the 5 oz ATB Quarters look a little better priced at 205! While I wanted them I've been holding off since the markup was high in my view

I'm going to make a wild guess and say that Bernanke will not announce QE3 at Jackson hole and the price goes down to $27 again.
In fact it may be a bit pessimistic of me to say that some big guns went long a bit ago and mysteriously the price goes up.
Now if I was really pessimistic I would say that those same big guns are making money on the run up and will then go short making money on the drop.
How big do you have to be till you can leverage the market?
Ed, that's what I like about you. No matter whether we agree or disagree you are always polite and your answers are thoughtful!

47 pages later, this thread just became obsolete. But if Jim is correct, and I have no reason to doubt him, we'll be back in business by this time next week with silver once again stuck at $27-ish.

I just saw it cracked $30. Think I'm going to stay on the sidelines for a bit to see what it does. I got about $4,000 bought in the under $30 range.

This near $30 thing is putting my desire to buy on the shelf.

Glad I bought my silver at ANA world money fair, but I pay a premium for those 1 oz and 5 oz ANA silver pandas, just close the gap a little.

Any reason to think the little spike in AG is related to the soaring price of grain & other commodities not being able to move down / up the Mississippi River at the moment? Just wondering...

Now I'm laughing at those who were telling me just days ago that silver and gold were too high to buy.
