to the community. It looks like you have a number of ancient coins and artifacts. There is a section here for ancient coins. I would start posting one of two coins are a time there. We would need to see both sides of the coins and as close and clear images so that we would be able to attribute them. I also see one or two English coins there is also a section for them here. Looking forward to seeing what you have. BTW, where these detector finds? If so it would be interesting to here how they were found.

Quote: Where do I start I'd take a close-up of each individual piece, both sides, and post them separately. Often people need to see finer details to ID/attribute the coins or tokens.

All found locally (Kent) the old fella who found them all....never used a metal detector..... just his highly trained eye and his knowledge of odd shaped lumps of mud that concealed ancient treasures etc ? Very Clever Man.

A lot of patience and time is going to be needed with these. First of all, take them to a local museum and ask how they may be cleaned properly cleaned. However, that is going to take time.
No doubt, the museim will almost certainly give some indication as far as attrributuion is concerned.
After that, has already been suggested, post individual pictures of selected coins here, if you wish us to comment further.
WE would love to.

Wow, finding them just by sight, he must have been doing it for years. I wish there were treasures like this buried here in the states.

If you don't know what it is, post it in ID Required. Post as many pics there as you like. We'd prefer separate threads for each item, so they can be moved to the correct location once they're identified.

Hi Claire
I'm based in Wales. I like to try and research coins from the historic perspective. If I can help, email me.

Quote: Quoinquest I have tried to email you, but it keeps saying I can't? I dont think Email address can be sent to or from new members, its a security feature that is removed once a number of posts have been made. Dont post your direct Email addresses in a thread as they will be removed by adim and you'll get a slap on the wrists. It can be frustrating when your new but its a good idea and it keeps everyones details safe. Hopefully if you post here quoinquest can still see see your items and help out. to the forum quoinquest For non-coin items we do have a 'Metal Detecting' thread where they can be posted and people can see the items and try to help out. If you have any non-metalic items like flint arrowheads / beads etc (the sort of things one would expect to be found alongside the coins and other items) I should be able to help Dont worry about posting lots of threads - we like IDing the coins and other items and there is an incredible amount of knowledge here.

I catalog my collection into spreadsheets. Google docs works well. You can apply images, dates, grades, what you paid, price you sold, anything you want to put into it.
