Yikes mani22.....

I hope it is a REAL 1936 dot, but highly unlikely...I will have to let the experts come in on this one....GOOD LUCK.

Interesting. How did you come by these?

A member of a metal detecting forum found a 1936 dot cent while coin hunting. She sent it in to be certified but was given the bad news that it was a fake. The dot was too small and in the wrong position but it sure looked like the real deal at first glance.

Cast as in "not struck". A lot of counterfeits are made this way.

There Was A Problem With Your E-mail
For security reasons new members do not have access to the email system. Most of the time (98% or so) new members only try to send email messages in an attempt to send spam or circumvent the rules. Is that what you're doing? Better check now. The other 2% can usually just be posted on the forum. ooooooo (So I don't want to break any rules, and unless they let me post my personal email ? I wait.....M

--mani22-- I feel your pain! but could be fake.
---Anything rare is going to be questioned!
---It looks about right to me but then again I have never seen one in hand and that goes for just about all of us.
---Judging by your picture (but a better one would not hurt) and the one in Charlton looks good but good luck getting one certified, that would be another topic. Walk carefully!

As we all know,at least I think we all know, there are only 3 in existence(All in MINT state!)
Multitudes have surfaced in the past years and continue to do so. BUT NONE has been satisfactorily authenticated.
It seems highly unlikely that ANY "GENUINE" 1936 dot cents ever circulated,(despite the "supposedly" official mintage of almost 700,000.
(I heard rumors there are 4or5. Although I don't know how true this is.)

Possession of counterfeit Canadian coins is illegal in Canada,be careful what you post!Better to ask for opinions than to state they are fake.
