However I am waffling back and forth. I am really interested in getting one (I was contemplating 1 each for both of my boys) but am unsure. I know they won't likely get any cheaper unless a ton of speculators buy them up only to have demand not be there but I don't see that happening.

What to do?

Merc as I stated in the other thread I'm in the same boat. I want the RP, already have the S mint, but I dont like the price or the unlimited mintage. I might just get my graded set and be done with it.

I know I've said it before but Ill say it again. If this is how the sets will be handled kill the set idea, save us the premium on the packaging and box, and just sell the RP as a single coin

I definitely won't rush to buy these, although if there enough people turned off by the price, it might be a limited product after all. I'll probably wait until the S-rolls/bags are offered on June 21st, as I'm more excited about the SF circulation quarters than this set.

Probably not, if it had been 2x the cost of the silver proof ASE, $119.95, I had estimated at least 750K. For every $10 more per set, expect to drop about a 100K from the mintage, which brings my estimate presale mintage to about 450-500K. After the order window closes, some of the flippers and mass merchandisers might cancel their orders, if the mintage appears too high for them to profit from resale immediately, but easy 400K mintage, it will take a lot of marketing and/or word of mouth to get to 700-800K sets.

Id be very happy with 400-500k I just dont see it happening unless everyone is really turned off to it. I have a bad feeling the resellers will order heavy and the final mintage will make this anything but rare. I hope I'm wrong as I really do want to like this set, it just seems like the more news I've gotten about it the more disappointed I've been with it.

I wonder how many we will see on ebay the first day?

$150. Wow. That's appalling, considering that silver was around $45 when the U.S. Mint released the 5-coin 25th ASE set at $300. Ag was ridiculously inflated at $45, but still.

I'll be waiting on this one to see what the sales are going into the last week of offering. Of course that's when everyone will jump on this if sales are low by then. This stinks. I'm not a fan of this type of mint-to-demand BS at all. I would have jumped at $150 for a 100k mintage but this is asinine.

It's possible that we'll see the Mint web site go down at the end of the ordering window due to ordering frenzy. Exactly opposite of the previous ASE set.

Im not at all. It may be selfish but I hope this set bonbs badly and gets horrible reviews in their surveys and they never do the mint to demand for a "special set again". At the very least just make it the same price as two proof ASEs would be

I was going to buy two sets, but I've had to re-think that idea because the price is said to be $150.00 per set. Steep!!

I'm thinking two at the max. Something about this set just doesn't ring true as being "special" (other than the RP or course)... The Mint needs to fire and hire it's marketing "geniuses".. One would think they are former legislators! --->

My guess is that I don't think the mintage will be above 500k. It is only for 1 month and most people haven't heard about them. Most collectors hear about them after the dealers have them and the Mint has stopped selling them. With just a month of selling, I don't see it that high of a mintage. Nothing more so than a typical year. Probably much less, is my guess.
