Try your local scrap metal guy, some are buying and melting, just like Silver coins ,which are also illegal to melt.

Keep the BEST chuck the rest into that 5 gallon bucket in the basement or shed and wait for melt time. Could also be used with the silver when we do have an economic melt down on Dec 21/2012 or something like that. :-) ;-) One with the most coinage again will have the power over the plastic.

Finished my fourth box of dimes, this one brought in to my local branch from a border town in New Brunswick. Once again, 2 silver dimes ('61 and '68), but the neat thing was more than double the usual number of US dimes (64/2500). That makes 9 silver dimes through 10,000 coins (200 rolls).

I consider myself pretty lucky with the dimes for sure. I'll hang onto my finds for now, even though most of them are pretty worn (F to VF).

I usually wait until I have 5 or more, then list them on ebay. Take the money from the sale and buy a coin(s) that I actually want.

It's a great thrill to find silver in a roll, but once I've found it, I mostly end up putting them aside since they aren't much to look at. Turning 10 dimes into a $20 coin would be a pretty satisfying way to flip them.

Another box of dimes, another 2 silver: a '56 and a US '57 D, my first found American silver dime.

I don't even live in Canada and I've snagged almost 100 Of those silver dimes in less than 5 years. I get about 20 per steel per $100 US. I seperate them then run a quick magnet over 'em. I can always pick out the silver ones by patina, but just in case...
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

Just tried a box of quarters last week on a whim, because I haven't searched them in a while. For good reason. Once again I found nothing of any significance whatsoever, and no silver as per usual. The highlight of the box was finding a Costa Rican 10 Colones in the first roll.

I hate when the only thing of interest is in the first roll. Then there is 49 more rolls of NOTHING! BOOOOOO. I have had that happen on too many occasions. I've also had it the other way. After searching 49 rolls of nothing, and had lost all hope I stumbled across some silver.
For the record, I have given up on roll hunting for silver. I only do it to fill holes in my nickel and small cent folders.

Has anyone ever found a silver dime or quarter in a new box from brinks or just from the customer wrapped rolls? Seems like most are post 2001.
