Here is a picture of the obverse :) This was bought for me as a gift. I believe she said that she got it at cracker barrel if anyone is interested.. I think they pretty much have the same stuff in the store all across the country. I know I giggle a lil bit everytime I look at it. Or actually.. if anyone is interested I will gladly trade it for a smaller example!

Very Definitely Bogus?

Back in the late 70's there was a company making replicas of key/semi-key date coins for use as coaster sets. Although they made the 09VDBS was made to look UNC instead of brown like this. I had the 09VDBS (its still here someplace), 1877 IHS (still got one), 32D quarter, 16D Merc, $20 1933 (yes, it was gold tinted), 1913 (D or S? I do not remember) Buffalo, WLH (forgot which date). Also had an Ike and a JFK. I was a kid and thought these were some of the coolest things out there.

I remember those well. I had a completed collection of all athe ones available. At a gas station I went to they gave one to each customer with a fill up of 8 gallons or more. Can't remember how many there were but I gave the entire mess to a YN.

I know some very well respected members have told you this is a fake. If I were you I would go ahead and not listen to them and their decades of experience and send it in to one of the major grading companies.

hahaha, I'm not sure whether I should pop it in the oven, or throw it in a dryer now.. darn good ideas right there! And I'm actually slightly tempted to actually send this into one of the TPGs. Maybe i'll have to wait a year til april 1st comes around and send it in as a 1909s vdb large variety. Then I could frame the "coin" and their report and hang it on the wall.
