Thanks donkrx, yes this coin means a whole lot to me and I'm hoping to somehow display it rather than just toss it in a box. Any suggestions on displaying a slabbed coin? Also, I know everyone is mad at me for cleaning the coin..but its hard when opinions are thrown around so often..

There are stands for slabs too, not sure where to get them, I just saw one before... let me find the pic.... *begins search* *completes search*  These look great, perfect for displaying a few coins on a desk or something like that. Could look even better if someone designed some sleeves to put over the slab, kind of like a cell phone 'skins'. I'm imagining a nice dark, high-quality fabric (e.g. velvet, like something you'd get in a special mint/proof set) that covers the entire slab and except for a hole to display the coin. The grade and designation part of the slab could be left open & visible or, as an option, covered with a liftable flap (something like a window). So essentially all you see is the coin which would give a cleaner overall presentation ... this would be so much better than looking at a bunch of clear plastic cases, especially if you have slabs from varying companies. Only problem is that it wouldn't be a 'one size fits all' thing... so maybe its not that practical haha. Anyway lol the ebay user in that pic is chasara150. I'm going to contact him myself if I cant find these online. |

Coin actually came today, was previously just going off the online grade I saw. The coin was graded AU 50 FH...I wonder what the price will be on that. Ill see if I can post some pictures tomorrow.

So according to numis media..au 50 FH is cheaper than just an AU 50..that doesn't even make sense?

Lol yeah that's kinda weird... has to be a mistake. I have a 1917 Type II that I'm considering sending but its probably only AU53 so I don't think its worth it. Its not something I would sell I just would like to have it in a slab, protected.

PCGS values a 1917 Type 1 (both FH and otherwise) graded AU55 as the same ... $200. Your AU50 would appear to be in line with the Numismedia values if only on the lower end of the range.
Sometimes it doesn't hurt to have a little luck on your side given a new collector's education on coin cleaning can often cost them.
By the way, congrats on getting it graded without the details designation. It's a very nice looking piece.
