I heard one of the dealers has plenty of silver dip (2011 ANDA show). What sort of price are we talking about, and do they offer discounts for bulk purchases? Some contact information would be great - TIA

Personally I didn't go anywhere near that dealer although I believe the one you are talking about had a lovely stack of bottles to the side of his displays. All his silver coins were lovely and uniform in colour, not a hint of cartwheel anywhere.

'Silver Dip' is meant to be used on solid silver and silver plated tableware.

Hey FNQ, I'm not sure if this is any information that will help you, but I had a post a while back regarding dipping a coin of mine.

If it is, it's got details of who suggest the dip in the first paragraph. A very interesting conversation with many different points of view.

I wouldn't recommend dipping the coin unless it's just a bullion coin - any dip that can clear toning will forever damage the top layer of the coin resulting in a dulled coin that will be significantly devalued and very difficult to sell.

The only way some dealers manage to sell dipped coins for high prices is by not declaring that the coin has been dipped then attacking and discrediting third party grading so their buyers won't verify the originality of their coins.

After a bit of experiance and time a dipped coin will stand out like ---- on a grayhound,
if dipping is mentioned run away don't walk
