I'm thinking about ordering $1,000 worth of half dollars. I've read that people are averaging 3+ 40% silver halves. I find this hard to believe as I'm averaging:

- 1 silver dime per $250 box
- 1 silver wartime nickel per $100 box
- 15 wheat pennies per $25 box

I'm curious what everyone is averaging per box? Has anyone had any luck with halves this year?

A lot of it is luck, but I would suspect that the Halves would be the hardest to find. Not only do collectors like them, people looking to make a couple bucks reselling them, but they are also a favorite among "preppers" for doomsday with their low cost and presumably high trading value.

I know a lot of people will say thats probably a small amount but its really much larger than people think. I'm sure even most of us here while maybe not a prepper have some junk silver or halves saved up for one reason or another.

Granted a ton of them were made, but my guess would be that as time goes on they will be harder and harder to find, especially since they really do have a solid return right now unlike say pennies where the profit is marginal

I would average 2-3 40% from boxes. I think I have searched a total of 15 boxes and found it not to be worth my time and effort since I must re-roll these and take them somewhere to dump. I now get only CWR's when available and on a good day get solid rolls of 40% with a few 64's mixed in and an occasional Franklin. On a bad day I will get 3-4 rolls with a few NIFC coins in the mix but no silver. On a really bad day I get 3-4 rolls with nothing in them or no rolls at all.

Roll hunting since 2007, halves are now just not worth my time. I've actually dug more 90% halves in the last year or two, than I've found in rolls. Same with dimes, although I find them, and I love to roll hunt, it's just not worth the time right now.

I used to average about 3 40% and 1 90% per box a few years ago. Now, I usually find 1 40% per box on average. Too many people are searching boxes. They are also harder to dump.
