I picked up $80 worth of halves at my bank today and $60 worth of the rolls had initials on them. Just initials no full name and phone number. My bank doesn't require a name and phone number if you have an account with them.

So my question is, is this a big sign that the rolls have already been searched by another hunter?

Also, I did find one 40% 1965 in one of the two unmarked rolls :)

I don't know if it means the rolls have been searched or not. But, even if they have been searched who knows what the person was looking for and kept or through back. Also who knows if the person knows what to look for. Maybe they were only looking for silver and through back the errors and varieties.

It may mean they have been searched, but there is no certainty. There is no way to know for sure until you check them.

In my area I see alot of rolls marked "RTB" that come from one particular branch. I was getting 40% out of these up until a couple of years ago. I got curious one time and asked the teller if she knew what they meant and she said "Yes, RTB stands for Return to Bank". She went on to tell me of a friend of hers who search halves for 90% silver and that he did not keep the 40% as they were hard to sell. Well it seemed that he started keeping 40% also when people started paying 5+ time face for them.

I've found solid silver rolls with initials on them. I've also found solid rolls of clad with the same.
