Your quarter is still a quarter and can be spent like any other piece of change.

I suppose you are right about there being legal limits to what people can do to US money. Imagine somebody with a rubber stamp marking stacks of dollar bills with ads like: Eat at Bob's Burger Joint or worse.

Just a curiousity: are these actually still legal tender after plating?

Yes if you want to spend them. Of course if and when spending those, you'll probably get the same looks as if you were trying to spend a $2 bill, Half Dollar, Ike dollar. People just don't see them enough to think they are real. I even have problems trying to use those baby sized dollars.
I sometimes wonder if those are really plated with Gold. Most look like they are Brass plated. If they claim it's Gold plated, just how could you prove that.

Thank you so much for your guidance everybody! I rolled one of the quarters into a ten dollar quarter roll and took it to the bank. I still have seven of them, but I'll probably end up depositing those too. They don't have much in the way of sentimental value for me because they make me think about the jerks who spent $20 on their dinner and then left me a 10% tip. I'll keep looking at all my coins though. I read online about a 1943 copper Wheat penny that's worth a lot of money. Now a couple of the girls at work and I are going through our pennies at the end of every night and we get really excited whenever one of us gets a Wheat penny. None of us has gotten the right one yet, and we probably never will, but it's nice to have something to bond with your co-workers over.
Rest in Peace

It sounds like you're all catching the coin collecting bug!

Old dimes and quarters were made with silver and are worth a little bit -- so hang onto those.

Keep looking. It's fun -- like treasure hunting without having to go outdoors. LOL

Speaking of gold-plated presentation quarters, the ones I ended up with weigh 5.63 grams, not 5.67. They were weighed on a properly calibrated 100-gram capacity coin/jewelry scale, so I do not doubt the readings. Should I be concerned?

I actually had an LCS pay me for mine. It was barely above face value, but I took it!

I thought most people knew these coins are just worth $.25 but I just had a friend that was taken buy a slick sales pitch about this product. I did a couple searches and found some other sites trying to make it out like these coins have value beyond their face value. In my searching I also found this article to help new collectors http://www.coinvalues.com/library/w...arters-worth It upsets me when people just starting out get ripped off and leave the hobby. I HATE these TV commercials and think people are being takin advantage of.

That's why people need to learn and/or ask questions before parting with their money. Knowledge is not only power, it's protection.
