Looks like sales are slowing on these, only a little over 1,000 sets sold last weekend. Current total is 136,678. It will be interesting to see what happens the last couple days of the sale. 16 days to go right now.

I was talking to my Father Law and husband about buying a set. Will most likely buy a set though.

Weezer, if you do buy a set and see what a proof and reverse proof silver eagle looks like in hand, I think you will be hooked on proof silver eagles.

Yes, I don't believe I have any proof. I do have a 1986, and 2 from 1988. I don't know if they are proof but they are uncirculated and stunning.

Sales are really slowing in the last few days, I'm doubting this set will crack 200K now. 1,000 sets a day for the next two weeks only takes it 150,000 with 20-30k on each of the last two days brings the final sets sold to around 200-210K. The big marketers with the deep pockets might come in on the last two days if they haven't already. Probably the price tag was more prohibitive that most collectors could afford.

I love this price point. A special price for a special set. There are so many current foreign silver proof 1 oz coins selling for $100 to $200.
$149 for 2 amazingly beautiful 1 oz American coins is a bargain for me.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think the RP is ugly? They are 'part of the set', so I buy them for my set, but I think they are ugly as heck. I'd much rather have a cameo standard proof myself. If they keep this up, I might have to start passing on the RPs just to keep things 'sane' in my collection. I am not getting many of the older date proofs I need because I am trying to keep up with the new releases.

Ratio personally I love the RPs just not done in this fashion. I would be more than happy to take the RPs from your set off yourhands lol.

I'm with basebal, I love the RP's because they are far different then anything else the mint has done. Too bad they can't do some of the stuff that you see coming out of the Canadian Mint.

Indian the US Mint does seem to be the least inventive compared to canada and australia. I'm not a fan of everything they do but they so have some pretty cool looking stuff.

Yep, not moving up very fast. Think I'll still hold off until the last day to decide.

I am planning on buying three more sets, one each week from now until sales conclude. My plan from the beginning was to buy five total, one for each family member, but since they have the limited sales period I decided to spread out my buys to gather more data. With that in mind, I am looking at some creative ways to push my single set orders to $300 to get a free upgrade to 2nd day air, and add to my collection/investment along the way. If I buy one proof SAE and two uncirculated SAEs, I get a total of $301.80. If I add one mint silver proof set and two silver quarter proof sets, I get the same $301.80 total. The former is of course, three ounces of silver but interestingly the latter contains a total of 3.15 ounces. The latter option also gives me five lenses (thinking about gifting purposes) as opposed to three coins. I have found that these coin lenses make very nice token gifts to mark the year of a special event in a young person's life. Of course, the SAEs can do the same thing, I just only get three of them in my wild scheme to spend $150 to avoid spending $12.95 for the shipping upgrade. What do you all think?

Clair the proof set idea would give you more silver for your buck, but if you have two orders left why not do both that way you can give out a wide variety of gifts. Depending on how many gifts you were looking for the mint sets would also be the better option, in terms of a self gift though I would lean towards the ASEs.
