Thinking about trying to purchase this. What is a fair price and what is a great price (within reason please)

I agree with John1; this one is not for me. If you do go for it, I would guess its value would be around $20-30.

ok thanks for your opinons. I would buy this coin simply to resell based ont he facts its damaged and the collectors won't want it. I'll hope for under $30. I'm sure in anacs slabbed in genuine I would make my money back

I bought one that looked to have been shot with a 22 for $45 and sold it a week later to a coin dealer for $85. Always someone looking for a cheap filler.

Is it just me or does anyone else get a bit emotional, like some sort of sad feeling for a coin in this condition?
I know they are just metal round objects, but for some odd feeling when I see a coin that nobody wants, it is like a litter of puppies, and the runt of the litter that nobody picks up. Awwww poor little crippled 1914 D, look at those sad eyes.
At least it got our attention, somebody should give it a home and a little love.

1) It may not be authentic.
2) Save your money for one worth adding to your collection.

I might buy it to fill a hole in my nieces collection. She would be like, "ewww that's an ugly coin uncle John. Cant you put a new one in there?"

Then I would have to try and explain supply and demand and the cost is more than I have for a new one. In the end it would be "just because".

Beat up or not I wouldn't buy any '14 D that wasn't in a TPG slab. Too many fakes, even among ones that you wouldn't assume were fakes.
