RE the small date/small bust 1850 ... no mention of such in US Cents 1840-1857 by Grellman. I suspected a fake when I first saw the small date but didn't say anything. Please start the coin on its own thread and we'll see what happens.

Maybe Moe posted the wrong obverse picture (that of an 1850 Half Cent if he has one)?

A bit corroded, but here is my 1851 large cent. Honestly, I am not a major US coin collector, but I have always found these coins to be interesting.

Quote:Maybe Moe posted the wrong obverse picture (that of an 1850 Half Cent if he has one)? Personally, I think that's EXACTLY what happened! I do have an 1850 Half Cent and when I loaded the Large Cents pictures to PhotoBucket (so I can upload pics on the road), I must have uploaded a picture of an 1850 Half Cent I had mislabeled as a Large Cent... Sweet sleuthing Amida17, Mackwork, and Indian Gold Eagle!! Additional Info: Pictures of my 1850 Half Cent (from Photobucket) Does the Obverse look familiar? (I blame myself...)

Ok, this is my highest graded large cent, a PCGS MS-66 BN. I originally got it back in the earlier days of ebay, with a so-so picture of this coin in an old PCGS MS-65 BN holder. Paid just over a 64 BN price for it also at the time. I always thought that this coin was a 66 all day long, so I took advantage of a quarterly special (free) and got the upgrade! The luster screams in hand too (scratches are all on the holder).

Here is my contribution for the day. At first I thought it was broadstruck, but ANACS told me that it was just struck from a worn collar.

All right, I know I'm a day early with this one, but I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow morning and won't have time to post:
