For 1-cent coins, double-struck, flip strikes (in collar) are easily found for coins dated 1969 (you always see one or more at coin shows). Generally, outside of 1969, they are rare, but not this rare!! Here is one I picked up at the recent Coin Expo in Toronto. I think I got the nomenclature correct in the title. It is a neat coin!

I will say that is neat, no better than neat...INCREDIBLE..You have all the luck, of course I never go to coin shows, so that is my fault.

Very cool SPP. I was there Fri am and didn't see it anywhere. I assume you picked it up from an acquaintance rather than from the bourse?

I lot more than what I paid for it (how is that for an ambiguous answer ). The dealer sold it to me as a 5% partial brockage...

Awesome coin SPP. I cannot wait for the RCNA here in Calgary in July. I will be hunting the bourse for errors, and hope to get this lucky!

Well, with the RCNA in Alberta, you'll have to to be quick, that is Zonad's back yard...

Zonad

If you had any thoughts on whether my 1891 cent in the string about half a page down is PMD or mint damage it would be much appreciated!

Two points Zonad:

- the names given to some errors on that website are just plain silly.

- that example given on that site is not a flip strike. It is double struck, 2nd strike 95% off centre. Note the reverse elements on the obverse of my coin.

There is a lot of terminology that is used in Canada that is not correct . Canadians are really hung up on die chips and Mechanical Doubling , no offense to anyone but why do Canadians think that every die chip / Mechanical Doubling error is worth a million dollars :-)
