I had started a dolalr roll hunting thread a long time ago, paralleling the JFK Half thread I started, but that other thread never took off- it got buried and I think eventually archived. I also did ones on Quarters and dimes but this fizzled out too. Others have started various nickel and penny threads. I used to dollar hunt quite regularly before the Presidential series came out, because SBA and SAC dollars often have goodies, like the 79P wide rim (I've accumulated more than 20) and occasional proofs, not intended for circulation (NIFC) coins, etc I also occasionally come across Ike dollars but it's rare. Have gotten a few 71D Friendly Eagle varieties

I am looking for a Cheerios dollar. I know they are out there in the wild. Most of the time they don't have dollar coins available.

There is a Cheerios variety and Wounded Eagle variety to look for in the SAC. There are Goodacre SAC dollars also, but the Goodacre dollars those should be in the wild, unless an idiot cracked the ICG certified case and deposited the coin or spent it.
I have yet to find either the Cheerios or Wounded Eagle variety but I am looking. Cheerios find would be incredible- that is one expensive coin, but I would bet the coin will be tarnished and ugly.

Thie is the first reference I've seen to either the Cherrio or Wounded Eagle Sac dollar. Could you tell me what they are. If you found either a Cherrio or Goodacre dollar in the wild how would you know. I have a lot of Sacs because I like them, and this is the first I've heard of either of those variants. I'd like to know more. My bank is calling me weekly to let me know that they have either Susan B's or Sacs and I go get them. Yesterday they called to let me know that they were holding $25 for me. Sometimes they are in good condition and sometimes they are not. I just don't care to clean them up, but possibly I should.

I went out looking for information on both the Cherrio and Wounded Eagle Sacs. It was easier finding the information that I would have thought possible.
What I found strange was that both were from 2000 mintage. Now I'm going to have to look through my stash to see if I have something special.
If I find that I have one or the other I will definitely have to invest in a PowerBall lottery ticket.
The source that I found only made reference to the Wounded Eagle as being certified 2000P. Could they also have been out of the Denver mint also?
Thanks for the posting. Learned something today.

The only dollar coins I search are the Large ones. I have yet to buy a silver dollar (40 & 90 %) from a bank.

Something to note on the Cheerios variety - there were only 5500 made. Out of 767,140,000 made in Philly. Odds of finding one in the wild are ridiculously low.
Glad I have one in the original packaging. I keep an eye out when I get new dollars for spending, but the Anthony varieties are what I'm really looking for.

Have roll searched dollars a few years back. Loved to search the SBA and so far have found in excess of 120 near date 79's. Also have found quite a few 1999 SBA also.

After reading here about the wounded eagle sac I'm now going to have to go back through my 2000 rolls that I was going to dump at the bank. Thanks for the education and the wounded eagle is from what I read a raised die that goes through the eagle's belly. Don't know if it's specific for just p mint.

I actually did roll hunt dollar coins a few weeks ago, & I found 11 1999's and a 2004 D, so I think there are some cool low mintage/proof/NIFC coins out there. Unfortunately I can't roll hunt anything more than pennies, & nickels at the moment because I'm broke But all in all I think it s a good idea

I don't really CRH dollar coins. I snatch up any Eisenhowers and Susan Bs I find in teller drawers to stick in a collection. I like the look of them, especially the Eisenhowers, and they may not be worth much or make for a special collection, but I like 'em.
I also will get into the Sacagaweas and Presidential coins just to fill an album. I will once in a while snatch $10 in them when I have a spare bill in the wallet, glance at them, and over the next few days they pay for gas/lunch/donations at Lodge.

I don't CRH, but when I pickup small dollar coins from my bank, I do look for missing edge lettering.
