Did not expect anyone to come forward and answer my question directly ... most cannot do so and IF there are those that can offer a direct response/explanation, I fail to see why they would ... as the learned-response aspect of our social make-up, dictates that we do not implicate ourselves...
The dot story associated with the Pittman dot coins is nothing more than a "weak foundation" that never should have passed inspection in the first place.
The dot story is the "sales pitch" for the Pittman dot coins, which are the product for sale.
It is my opinion that those who write the words for the hobbyist to reference, should stop writing the story associated with the Pittman dot coins.
Even though I believe the Pittman dot coins are spurious and that the presently known examples of these coins are most-likely "second generation" of same.
They have become an intricate part of our Canadian Numismatic History and I fail to see any reason for these coins to be excluded from future generations of hobbyists.
For to exclude the Pittman dot coins, the business strike dot coins would also have to be excluded ... as both types have physical specimens to attest to their existence and neither have a written pedigree.
