The 1970 is the Manitoba commemorative and the 1986 is I think the last year of circulated large nickel dollars. Its always nice to have friends looking for coins for you. You will be lucky if they're in good shape as average circulated ones can be had for FV.

2 weeks ago I bought a box of pennies from a bank, 1=1935 plus, 5 wheats, approx $8 USA and 40's through 2011, and about 3 rolls of errors and varieties. Tells me non-collectors are still bringing them in unsearched. Problem is the Banks don't seem to keen on selling them back out. The 1935 I would say VG10, I did get a 1961 that would easy be MS62+RD.

Great when you can get a box of pennies in 2015 still. Just think all those collectable ones cost you only a penny. I believe that the bank has to pay for the shipping of those pennies back to the mint and thats why some will sell them to you, they just don't want to handle them anymore. I also believe that the tellers that say no they can't sell pennies say that because thats what they are told to say. I have gotten more pennies from banks in 2014 than I got in 2013. Remember the mint made billions of them.

I bought some last spring from my bank, I also take my searched rolls back there. The ones I bought were my rolls I brought back lol. So now I put a mark on the rolls to be sure, it helps. My daughter gets about a box or 2 every month so it's a nice supply, I'm sure it won't dry up to soon lol.

Quote: Luck just seems to be on everyone's side so far! My friend has just told me she has two large dollar coins, one from 1970, one from 1986, I'm getting them tomorrow, they may not be silver, but they're still nice to have right?

Cannot beat nickel dollars at face value. Nice score. Pretty shiny by the looks of things too. Mirror finish on both coins. Look like proof like coins, get em into 2x2's. Well done.

Thanks! I currently do not have any 2x2 for voyageur dollars, as they are big so they currently reside in my coin album.

canadiancoincollector: Just like larger foreign crowns, etc, you can get 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 holders for your dollars and have all kind of room to write what you want on them There are pages for those larger holdeers as well.

Picked these up a little while ago. The tellers at my bank hold them for me. 174 Canadian nickel dollars, 1 US sac dollar, plus $25 in Can and USA half dollars. I just check them for errors and return the unwanted to another bank. Some of the US Kennedy halves I use to make hobos.
