Having them side by side, I still don't think it is a die match, obverse or reverse. Close enough for the examination for sure. Perhaps the two dies were cut by the same celerator.

Agree. I regularly question whether two dies are the work of one hand or just two cutters trained by the same master. There is even the chance that more than one person worked on a single die (a face man, a hair man, a legend man etc.). I fail to see how we are to prove anything with certainty.

jwharper: The dies that these coins came from are very similar, but they are not the same. The styles of both ar similar enough to suggest that they are from the same cutter, and were cut in the same period of the cutter's artistic development.
