The eagle design on the Washington quarter is most likely gone forever. The sad thing is that whatever replaces it will be of such low relief as to render the design to ghost-like nothingness. The Mint does not want to strike coins in high relief for a variety of reasons: manufacturing speed, die life, etc. Check the relief on the 1940s or 1950s Washington quarters and it is quite apparent why modern coins are so dead-looking.

The heraldic eagle is gone forever, in 2014 we are supposed to get a crossing the Delaware reverse.

So we're going to have the New Jersey State Quarter again?

On which coin is this happening in 2014? or did you mean to say 2022 or 2033 if there is a second round of ATBQ?

I think 2014 is a mistype of 2034, which is more likely since we all know that they will go for one more round.
Rest in Peace

I actually really like the original eagle reverse of the Washington quarter.

Too bad it's likely gone for good.

I've been trying to find Laura Frazier's quarter design and can't find it all, even through wikipedia or google.

I can find references to her work but nothing about the quarter design that is mentioned here. Does someone have a direct reference to the design or could possibly post a picture of it here.

Thanks............

The old coins blow the majority of the new ones out of the water

They used Laura Gauden Frasers original quarter design on the 1999 Bicentennial of Washingtons Death five dollar gold commemorative.

Perhaps in 2022, we will see a series of American woman honored on the quarter dollar piece.
