Interesting... I thought it was all about the defacement of her august majesty. We sorta decided a long time back that we weren't going to do the royalty on the coins thing. I think that allowing "coin novelties" was a sort of protest against the sort of thinking that wants to make something so simple illegal.

Well... the fun is that we can play with US coins pretty much all we want... and we can probably do Euro stuff too. Might be interesting. And I suppose we could counterstamp Australian coins all we want... as long as they stay out of Australia. Would a photo of a counterstamped Australian coin be illegal there? I can see it now... an Aussie coin with the counterstamp "I can't go home" on one side and "Coin in Exile" on the other. Circulate the image... have the coin appear in photos of different cities worldwide, seeking asylum.

Congratulations MoFlea!

We just got the press back in the shop, it had been away in storage for several years.

Seems like the NO MORE LIES slogan is even more appropriate now than ever. We still have some rolls of old ones, and the dies are still in decent shape.

If there were anybody local that wanted to stomp some nickels, we could set you up.

That's because every two years all the Congressmen and a third of the Senators are up for re-election. That's 465 elected liars trying to outdo 465 liars that want to replace them.

I was directed to this thread via another and found it really interesting. Being a counterstamped Lincoln Cent collector the nickels really 'talked' to me. Sounds like this gentleman has a multitude of setups that he can gear up at any time.
Check out my counterstamped Lincoln Cent collection:
