I am not quite sure if this is considered a mint error but I did notice that I have two dollar coins with a particular looking washington. There seems to be extra markings on his forehead? Coin 1 has a particular line going up from the the brow through the forehead. Coin two has lines like rays on the forehead Please take a look at the pic and tell me what you think about coin 1 and coin 2 THanks so much for your help ...

The second coins looks to me like it could be a die clash, but I really can't tell. Can you get some photos without the glare, and possibly zoom?

your second set of photos are better. but in the future try taking the coin out of the flip and you will get a lot less glare. I don't think it's a clash though nothing fits for a clash. possibly grease or a rag or something was stuck to the die.?

Right, I have been wondering what part of the design could have clashed in that way... gary, are you suggesting a struck thru?

i wouldn't call it a strike through. but it is either grease or a damaged die or possibly even a damaged planchet. either way there is no premium on it so I would put it back to work. "spend it"

Who was the artist for this coin? Ole George does not look happy at all. Any guess as to why he was not portrayed in such a sullen manner?
