I have been doing some searching and perhaps its a " Cud" ? Can anyone help out ..it would greatly be appreciated. THANKS |

A Cud is a chip on the edge of a die that leaves a lump of metal on a coin I think, so this may be considered a Cud. But I think it may be a problem with the collar during the strike, maybe it did not fit snug against the planchet or something like that, causing the raised metal. or maybe it's a broadstrike? (and maye they are the same thing)?  Anyway someone much more qualified than me should be along to give a better answer |

It looks to me to be a slightly off-center strike with a couple of Cuds. |

I also see a few Die Cracks above the A in STATES and above the O in OF
I would like to see the Obverse....Any pictures of the front?

Your coin has rim Cuds, which are rather common for 2c coins. |

As coppercoins said Rim Cud is very common on the 2 Cent series especially the 1864. Taptna good spot on the die crack also fairly common on the 64 but check the date; this is one of the repunched date varieties. check out the high 4 with out better close up pictures I cannot say for sure which variety it is but its a nice grade coin. |

What do you mean by high 4 variety? what do I need to look for? What grade would you give this coin ? Thanks again for everyone's help   |

the 1864 Has several date varieties where the date was re-cut this may be one of them. The colour looks a bit wrong which would indicate an old cleaning but overall this coin would fall unto the XF maybe AU50 range

If you have a loop check the 4 to see if there is evidence of another 4 below it. This is usually most clear the the inside Apex of the 4
