pennysaver - thanks for the response. I messaged the bidder and asked him why he did what he did, and he said that he lost his job this week. Despite being against policy (as I understand it), that's a fair enough reason, if true.

I'll leave it at that. Like I said, based on communications I've received, I don't think his bid was going to be the final one, and even if it was, I'm not going to sweat $2.50. I just felt like it compromised the auction a little bit.

No problem, jg. Good stuff on emailing the bidder, because it looks like he wasn't just messing around with you. His explanation sounds reasonable, so I'd take him at his word and leave it at that.

And good luck with the auction -- those last few minutes should be interesting!

the off centre rabbit last week broke 500.00. This one, half that seems reasonable? But if a few people feel it is worth more .....then the pocket book will reflect the final outcome. With more collectors after modern cents, it could just get silly. Good luck with it tho. I will stick to my error tastes.

This coin cost me more than anticipated, hopefully, it is as nice in hand.

Nicklesguy, I think your last comment is comparing apples to oranges. The subject 2007 cent is a misaligned die, not an off center strike. Big difference is rarity and price. This coin has absolutely nothing to do with an off center strike such as the rabbit you referenced. This coin was struck inside the collar versus your rabbit that was struck off center and not in the collar. Unless I am not understanding what you are trying to say.
