I have a question though because I have never used pcgs.
Will I or Won't I need to send them to PCGS in the org mint boxes?

You more than likely will need to if you want the FS label which I think is a waste of money, but if you dont care about that then it doesn't matter.

If you want to get the FS label from PCGS after the 30 day period is up then you will need to send unopened mint packaging postmarked before the end of the period. Before that neither PCGS nor NGC require any packaging at all and NGC says that they don't want to see it. At NGC, ER (or FR) labels are automatic before the period expires and unavailable after. Both companies will probably set the actual period once shipping actually begins. With this set, it looks like a fair amount of sets shipped will not be eligible for the early labels as the mint is expecting for shipping to take about two months.

So then we can actually examine the coins first before we ship them for grading unlike the 25th anniversary set where we sent them in blind? Thanks for the help guys

Yep you can cherry pick what you want to send in this time. The only downside is that if you get any bad ones you cant return it for a new set only a refund

I saw it as a win win That actually isn't a terrible idea to just order double what you really want and then cherry pick it

You can return for any reason but you are not supposed to break up sets and return coins differently that they were shipped to you. It is perfectly OK to return a set because a coin in it is less than what you want to accept but it is not OK to move coins between sets and then return the lesser ones for refund or replacement. While there is no way for the mint to tell if you do this, it is not right and shouldn't be done. The mint won't question an occasional return but if you make a habit of it they will probably decide to stop selling to you or stop taking returns from you. While they probably routinely take volume returns from volume buyers, those returns are most certainly of unopened shipments, something the mint would probably not mind an individual doing either.

If youre returning it cus you think itll be a 69 and not a 70 yea I agree that shouldnt be done. But if you have 2 sets and one has a not so good Eagle and the other has the not so good RP theres no reason you should send both back and end up with nothing because you were unlucky to get a bad coin in each. I see no problem is cases like that moving the coins around

Wow, lots of grey area (matter?) in this ethical offshoot.

I dont see why not. I'm of the belief the mint should have extra sets for people that want to return bad coins and still have a set since ordering is closed they cant order another, so if thats what you have to do to make sure you get a good one really the mint only has them selves to blame for not making some reserve return sets. All theyd have to do is strike a few more and could use the same packaging.
