Quote: Nice collection. I have a question I like saving a variety of coins and sometimes I get a head of my self. Are the plastic tubes better then paper they won't be there long till I put them in my 2x2 IMO Coin tubes are better than paper rolls, they can be a little more air-tite and some paper roll can cause coins to tone more. The tube do have more of a expense 30 to 60 cents a tube. I like the square tubes because they stack and store better. Quote: nice collection with lots of variety. What is the metallic holder on the bottom left that has coins in red felt? I want something like that Mkman123 - The metallic holder with the red felt trays is a Lighthouse coin case, I use it for my set of uncirculated commemorative dollars. There are many different size trays you can purchase and the one picture holds six trays, they make a 12 tray model.

Mine is not really original at all...eight lighthouse trays of my 7070 slabbed collection in my strong box. I will try to pop off a few shots in between my two jobs and college classes. I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go...

THat is an awesome collection! My collection is simply in 2x2s inside album pages inside large 3 ring binders. the coins that are in other storage containers are simply put into cash boxes inside of my safe.

I'll post a picture of my collection later tonight but you wont be getting any organizational ideas from me. If I was allowed to have those double sided 2x2 holders my organization would be way better. My fiance would rather me take up a small portion in a back room.

Not sure if others feel the same as you about posting valuable collections on the internet. Many will post a photo of some coins, one coin, a favorite coin or coins, but few actually post massive collection photos. Not sure about others, but I'm in an area that makes people aware of crime possibly to much. Posting excessive information about anything valuable makes many hessitant. So many think it is safe on forums, the internet, etc. yet this is the lastest in crimes. I just think it's better to be safe than sorry.

This subject comes up often. What we should or should not post online.
IMO .. most all of us here have coins. We talk about them, post pictures of them when we make new purchases, and when we complete sets.
I read a lot of posts. With little effort I could name members that have large collections and very valuable coins .. even if they don't post many pictures of their collection. Some have a lot of gold coins .. some have high grade type sets or high grade Mercury and Lincoln sets.
Beside the fact most people have a lot of things in their homes that have value. Most thieves look for homes that look like they are easy to get in and out of.
The best we can do is to make your home as secure as possible. I have dogs and guns .. high fences. Most of my security camera's are in place with Net access, I can pull my camera's up on my laptop when I am away from home. I also have a friend working on a UNIX script that will send me a alert when the motion sensors are triggered. Part of this set up is with my military background .. but none of it is that hard to set up.
I do put most of my higher value coins in my bank SDB and I have a heavy safe at home. Some say a safe gets moved in .. it can be moved out. To me the trick is to get a safe so heavy that it is very hard to move empty. Then put a couple hundred pound of guns, coins and ammunition.
I believe in taking precautions, but when I have to much fear of losing my coins .. then I will sell them all

To me the trick is to get a safe so heavy that it is very hard to move empty. Then put a couple hundred pound of guns, coins and ammunition. Exactly. Anything can be broken into or taken with enough time and resources including fort knox. The trick is to make it so cumbersome or difficult that a thief will either not want to even try it and just leave it alone or it will be so difficult the cops will be there before they get away.

Quote: I believe in taking precautions, but when I have to much fear of losing my coins .. then I will sell them all Kind of missing the point I was making. I agree with you that if anyone has so much fears about loosing valuables, there are many things that should be done. One naturally is to get rid of them. Another is to just not advertise you have them. Yes there are numerous ways to make things safer but then too, back to, to much to worry about. Advertising you have valuables in your possesion today is just not one of the things people should be doing. Criminals today are getting smarter and smarter as you can tell by all the identity thefts going on every day. With the smallest amount of information, some criminals can come up with so much info about someone, it just pays to be safe, not sorry.
