Its coming up to the 1 year anniversary of my metal detecting hobby. I told myself I would cash in all the finds to help the hobby become self financing. The Coins are easy I can wrap them and turn them into the bank. The Good jewelry I can ebay but what do I do with the junk stuff?
I have about six grams of Gold mostly bits of bracelet and a couple of broken clasps. I also have a couple of ounces of junk silver ranging from 0.825 to 0.925 purity.
Does anyone know where I can dispose of this?
If I have added up my logs correctly I have found enough in coins alone to pay for the detector not bad for 1 year of playing

Hi nohope

I keep all of this kind of stuff sorted by fineness,, every now and then I take it to a local jeweler who pays me a percentage of spot for each fineness.

I try to have enough when I take it in to trade for either a 5 or 10 dollar eagle .

Im sure in your area you can contact someone who buys scrap silver and gold .

I Metal Detect every now and then out in the AZ desert. I am usually looking for gold in washes. I have not found any gold yet, but I have found horse shoes, old miners pans, old shovel, legs to an old stove, old rusty gun (not sure if it is real), old keys and other small things here and there. It is all treasure to me and I love finding the stuff and keep it all.

It looks like you are doing good if you have paid for your detector in a year. How many coins have you dug so far? I use to keep totals but I have gotten slack lately.
