I checked out the customs duties and tariffs for coins (United States Internationa Trade Commission)and it reports back that there is no customs duties/tariffs on coins imported to the US. I thought that was the case.
The Harmonized Tarrif Schedule for Coins. (I checked for Gold coins, Silver coins and base metal coins, all report no tariffs.)
