Hello neighbors to the south. I found this in my change. It is not the big Kahuna but does have doubling on "In God We Trust"

What Category does this fall under? Is it a common error? Is it worth anything?

Thanks.

I would try using coppercoins.com to attribute it. Closer pictures and a picture of the date couldn't hurt. Without being able to see clearly my semi-educated guess would be a 1972P-1DO-008.

Wait for more knowledgeable people to chime in.

This is definitely a nice doubled die, and a collectible variety. There are a bunch of doubled dies for the date so I would check coppercoins.com as jdavis18 suggested.

there are some close ups above. Here is the date. Might be something going on with the 2

From the new pictures, I believe it's 1DO-003. Check the die markers against the photos at the link.

There is 7 DDO (double die obverse) for 1972. Yours is NOT DDO #1....but could be 2/3/4/6/7/8. Lincoln Cent Resource will be your new friend for info.

Direction of rotation and strength narrow it down to 003 or 008. I'll go with the 003 crowd based on what I can see of the S in TRUST.

Too bad it isn't a #4. That's the most valuable of all. Nice DDO, though.

Wonder what the real population of #4 is.
I bet that many slip by the average picker.
