I really like the new design. Sentimental and significant. I think the RCM did a very good job so far on these non circulating almost legal tender (NCALT) coins.

Hope you get some soon so we can have a proper photo. I know yours will be better than this but I tried the scanner rather than using the microscope. Here it is:

I like this design much better than the last! Looking forward to receiving mine. I like the "Farewell to the Penny" theme and the cards that they come with.
Received my Lismer & HMS Shannon today and got notification my Two Loons has shipped from Canada Post. Hope they are getting caught up!

Quote:I think the RCM did a very good job so far on these non circulating almost legal tender (NCALT) coins. haha NCALT, I like it! Yes their new designs are great... the 20$ for 20$ are all very good ones, except the jubilee one, which we don't like because it's a 60-years reign that we celebrate. If it was, let's say Kate Middleton was Queen, and this was to celebrate her first year reign... nobody would complain about having the Queen in front of the coin!! Am I wrong? haha Anyway, I'd like to have you opinion on the 20$ for 20$ to this date. My preference would be: 1. First Maple 2. Canoe 3. Farewell to the penny 4. Obverse of the Diamond Jubilee (which is the only coin I know that is shown obverse first ;)) 5. Bear And if I can't show coins to the obverse the Bear wins a position!! hehe

My preference is exactly the same as Loonar's. Maybe someone can set up a poll?

@CC-Ottawa, Looks like you have the Diamond Jubilee at a distant fifth for favourites?

Nice catch. I tried to move it off the page lest it taint the other coins The theme is a bit off for me but the portrait is simply terrible. Even Kate couldn't save a coin if the designers made her look that bad (remember what they did to Princess Diana on coins - yikes).

IMO the obverse of the Jubilee (young Queen) is nicely done.

A common misconception is that Kate Middleton will become Queen of England when her husband William becomes King. No she will not. The same way Prince Philip is not the King of England when his wife Elizabeth became Queen. We will never seen her on the back of a coin.
On the same note, Camilla will NOT be the Queen of England when Charles become King.

and when Charles becomes King, we'll have his image on our coins. Football shapped coins, so we can fit his ears. :)

Kate will be Queen of England however she wouldn't be on a coin as William would be King and therefore it would be his portrait as ranking Monarch.
